No. 652

history

Victorinox produced model no. 652 from the early 1950s. This model is a 1:1 implementation of Carl Elsener 's patent application filed in 1952. It was manufactured until the early 1980s. The difference to the model no. 650 was the additional small blade. Since this knife already had a cutting blade, the added value was relatively low - but the cost was significantly higher at CHF 6.40 to CHF 4.80 in 1958 (see catalog 1958) in the Alox red variant.

functional parts

The knife had a large blade, a small blade (eraser) and a nail file. Only the variant with a horn bowl had tweezers and toothpicks (cf. catalog 1972). This option was not available with other scale materials. The circuit liners were riveted with the springs and the tools and then the scales were glued/pressed onto the circuit liners.

blade strength

Big blade: 2.3 mm; small blade: 1.25 mm; Nail file: 2.3 mm

construction

One spring is mounted "floating" without being fixed with a rivet. This meant that a center rivet could be dispensed with and two tools could be mounted on one spring at the same time.

scale material

Aluminum, cellidor and steel were used for the scale and, in contrast to model No. 650, horn of the first class and mother-of-pearl were also used.

liners

The liners were originally made of brass, later made of German silver.

Trade names: Prince (steel scales), Cavalier ( cellidor scales, aluminum scales), Treasurer ( cellidor in imitation tortoise scale).
