history
Together with 5 other models, model no. 4 was one of the first pocket knives that Victorinox developed and produced for the farmer's knife series. Model No. 4 had an additional saw in addition to a large cutting blade. This model was offered in all 4 available sizes in all available variants until the end of production. The difference between the individual sizes can be seen in model no. 4 by the number of teeth on the saw, which was characteristic of a specific size:
- No.1/4: 33 teeth (16 top, 17 bottom)
- No.2/4: 31 teeth (15 top, 16 bottom)
- No.3/4: 29 teeth (14 top, 15 bottom)
- No.4/4: 27 teeth (13 top, 14 bottom)
functional parts

material thickness
Big cutting blade: 2.4 mm – 2.8 mm; Saw: 1.9mm - 2.3mm
construction
In model no. 4, the head rivet held the large cutting blade and the saw in place. At the very beginning of production, the saw was still attached to the base rivet. A center rivet attached the back spring. It was a 2-layer peasant knife.
scale material
Victorinox originally used black fiber scales as the material for this pocket knife, later also class I and II horn and red fiber instead of black fiber.
liners/rivets
The rivets and liners were made of steel or brass, the jaws of steel or nickel silver, depending on the version. The high-quality, called "fine version", used rivets and liners made of brass as well as jaws made of nickel silver and rust-resistant steel for the tools, if this was already available.
