history
Model no. 2214 first appeared in the 1969 Victorinox catalogue. It may have been produced some time before that. It seems that model no. 2215 (model no. 2214 with an additional saw) is listed in the catalog as early as 1964. In essence, the Model No.2214 was a standard Model No.2220 (soldier's knife) with a hooked blade in place of the can opener. This model is still made today. Originally it had red aluminum scales.
functional parts
Model No.2214 had a large cutting blade, a screwdriver and a hooked blade, and an awl. This model did not come with a shackle/key ring.
material thickness
Large cutting blade: 2.8 mm; Awl: 1.8 mm; hook blade: 1.8 mm; normal screwdriver: 2.25 mm
construction
The lower layer of model no. 2214 is identical to that of the soldier's knife model no. 2220 (awl and large cutting blade). The upper layer consists of a hooked blade and a screwdriver. The latter moves around the head rivet together with the large cutting blade, the other 2 tools around the foot rivet.
Since the hooked blade had a lower material thickness than the screwdriver, a thin intermediate layer was required, which was fixed with the head rivet.
scale material
Victorinox used red anodized aluminum as the scale material.
Liners/spacers/rivets
The intermediate layers and board consisted of brass, later of nickel silver; the head and foot rivets are made of nickel silver, the center rivet is made of aluminium.
