No. 2228

history

The history of model no. 2228 is similar to that of model no. 2223: consistently in the catalogs since 1959, but overall very rare to find. The model no. 2228 was a model no. 2223 with an additional saw. This model was probably only ever produced in small numbers. The official scale color was red anodized. Due to the 5 tools and their different developments, model no. 2228 was available in very different variants.

Model No.2228 had a large cutting blade, screwdriver and can opener, as well as a long sewing awl and saw. This model was optionally available with a bail/key ring.

construction

The top and bottom tiers of the No.2228 model are identical to the No.2223 model. The saw is on the middle tier. This moves together with the large cutting blade and the can opener around the head rivet, the other 2 tools around the foot rivet.

scale material

Victorinox used silver aluminum as the scale material.

Liners/spacers/rivets

The intermediate layers and board consisted of brass, later of nickel silver; the head and foot rivets are made of nickel silver, the center rivet is made of aluminium.
